Stargate: Atlantis (All the best details draft and research)
Today we are talking about the television series Stargate: Atlantis
Teyla played by Rachel Lattrel. She is actually a classically trained singer and highly skilled dancer which allowed her to far more theatrical stunts in her fight scenes.
Rodney McKay is occasionally making cracks about people compared to Star Trek characters like Dr. McCoy. In my research, I found it said that each episode has a reference to pop culture, like Star Trek, or similar sci-fi shows, to give the appearance that the show is based in the real universe.
Of the characters, you can’t miss the Scottish accent during the performances by Paul McGillion. He is actually Canadian. He was born in Scotland and lived there at various times during his childhood. But his accent on the show was affected just part of his performance.
Most of the primary cast are actually Canadians who are portraying Americans. From the original cast, it was only Joe Flanigan who was American and acted as such, and David Hewlett a Canadian playing as one, that actually portrayed their correct nationalities. Did you know, they are also the only characters that do appear in every episode.
One of the best things about watching sci-fi shows are the sets, space ships, weapons, and the things that help us believe we are seeing another world or outer space. Stargate: Atlantis did not disappoint in this aspect even though at times the filming sets seemed simple enough. I read that most of the set used in the show was originally from Blade: Trinity.
Also, The Genii pistols are nicknamed "Timecop Beretta", the reason being that the props were first used in the Timecop.
As for spaceships, those puddle jumpers were very cool! Apparently, the production crew had two Puddle Jumpers to use in filming. The first was closed, and primarily used on location, while the other was open Jumper stationed on the set for filming the interior scenes.
Rodney McKay played by David Hewlett was orginally supposed to mention he had a brother, for the episode, “hot sone”, but instead he asked if he could change the line to sister, hoping his real-life sister Kate Hewlett could star alongside him.
Let’s talk about Rodney’s eventual love interest, Dr Keller played by Jewel Staite. Turns out she portrayed a Wraith earlier in the series though it required full prosthetic make-up so she is rather unrecognizable.
We have to talk about Christopher Heyerdahl who played the character Halling. Turned out, His other, larger role was the Wraith Todd. Previous to my research for this episode, I did not realize that he eventually portrayed both Halling and Todd in the same episode.
By the conclusion of the five seasons, Sheppard had names five of the wraith creatures: Steve, Bob, Michael, Todd, and Kenny.
